I’ve had a brief exchange with Nev Connew about restarting this monthly get together, most likely to be held at the Western Districts Model Railway Club in Ranui, West Auckland. I’ve discussed with the club president, Mike Hill, the possibility of making use of the clubrooms on a Sunday, in exchange for a koha. The club has a kitchen facility for making tea/coffee, and we could easily have a koha (donation) for the use of the facility plus some bikkies, and a pie run for lunch. If you’re keen please reply below, let me know a day that works for you (I’m thinking of running the first one next month).

Great time today at the new Westies NZR Modelling Group get together at the Western Districts MRC in Ranui. Six of us worked on various NZR models, laser-cut buildings or just general tinkering while also making use of the club’s own layout. I managed to test my National Rail (Australia) NR class loco running WiFi connectivity, while others made use of DCC over WiFi. Lunch was kindly provided by the club and cooked by Josh Hill.
We’re thinking this will be a monthly occurrence, probably the last Sunday of the month rather than the 3rd Sunday (as that’s when the MOTAT guys have their running days!). That would make the potential next day the 25th August. Time frame (11am – 4pm) seems to work for everyone.
