Article Submission Guide
Thank you for your interest in submitting an article for The Journal Online, the NZMRG online space! We’re excited to showcase your work. The Journal Online is published every Sunday.
To ensure your article fits with the theme and standards of our website, please follow the guidelines below:
Content Focus:
Your article should be about New Zealand model railway prototypes or a topic related to New Zealand model making. Areas articles could cover are:
- New Zealand Model Railway Prototypes: Historical or modern New Zealand railway models, including street trams, bush tramways, funiculars etc, layouts, and stories relating thereto.
- Scale Model Making: Techniques, technologies, and tools related to model making, especially model railways.
- Related Topics to Model Making and Model Railways: Building baseboards, new construction materials, or innovative techniques and tools that can enhance the hobby.
- Event reports, relating to model railway shows and events: self-explanatory, but a focus on people involved and models they’re working on / displaying is appreciated
Word Count:
- The typical article length is 800–1,000 words, but this is not prescriptive. You want to ensure your article is informative and engaging without overwhelming the reader. While in the online context, we have plenty of space (in theory, limitless) keeping the reader engaged is important – remember there are also forums in which to carry on a conversation.
Images:
- If possible, please include pictures or drawings to accompany your article. High-quality images can help illustrate your points and engage readers. You can add these to your own album or email them to us directly. Video posted on YouTube can be embedded in posts.
How to Submit:
- You can use our contact form (here), email us (guildsec@nzmrg.org.nz) or post a proposed article on a forum.
- Images should be in .jpeg or .png format, with a brief description of each image. Adding these to a group and/or album you’ve created is ideal.
