NZR TBC container design for 9mm

    Hi all,

Phil Rzoska asked me for a 9mm scale version of the TBC container I created a CAD design for. The original design was one of the first I created, about 10 years ago, and was in NZ120. So scaling it up was straightforward, but getting the details right is more of a challenge.

The other problem is that at 9mm scale the container is just within the envelope of my biggest 3D printer, so I’ve been using a service in China to get these 3D printed. The first version (on the right) is the original NZ120 design scaled up to 1:34 scale. The one on the left is my first revision. You can’t see in this pic but I’ve added in forklift pockets and changed the insulation panels somewhat (there’s actually one on the roof, but on the general arrangement drawing it looks like a line). The good news is the size is now correct, as you can see. The bad news is some kind of error occurred with the file so a whole chunk of the front is now missing! I’ve edited the file again to fix this problem and added rivets (quite a few!) which should show up in 9mm scale but are unlikely to in smaller scales (I’ve got an order for some HO scale ones so will be interesting to compare the new design). I’ll let you know when take III arrives!
