I’m not really sure where you are going with this. Instructional videos, whether stand alone or part of a series, are pretty well established. The best ones these days are money making ventures, either via embedded ads, Patreon, or paid subscription. And why not? A good video takes effort to make. But how does this fit in with the Guild? Sure, if somebody wants to make quality NZR relevant video, I can see how the Guild might want to host/link to that. I guess the Guild might also sponsor the creation of such video.

If contemplating such things, a first step that appeals to a majority seems a logical approach. The problem with this is that we are a pretty diverse group, united in our interest in the local scene but otherwise varied in regard to aspiration, scale, era, base skill level and so on.

Not impossible, perhaps, but how do you see it working?

Yeah, as I say, I don’t think “how-to” videos are for the NZMRG. Where I’m going is along the lines of your next comment; i.e. someone creating or the Guild creating videos of layouts / locomotives etc. That’s our “niche” and there’s little point in the Guild going down a generalist path – there’s plenty of others creating high-quality content in that space.

You’re right, we are a diverse bunch. But that makes it more interesting, especially for those who are “armchair” modellers and happy to endure an ad or two. It could be a new revenue stream for the Guild in that sense.

This is all just speculation on my part, I’ve only looked into what potential costs could be at this stage.
